Quebec Airport has all you might need: free wifi, free power at some seats and even a children’s toy area for the kids to play in! Nice sunset too!

If you live anywhere north of London it seems you’re in the flight path of one airport or another. Windsor, despite having a great big castle, is no exception and a number of flights flew over in the few hours we spent in the town.

Glider EI-128 sitting on the sand at Inch Strand, Co. Kerry in 2006. I’ve posted a few photos of this glider in the past and I can safely say this is the last one unless I happen to see it again!

Snow on the runway
On the way back from Arizona I flew via Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. I had a long wait but I have a laptop, a spare battery, DVD and Mame to keep me amused.
I took a few photos too but I discovered shortly after taking this that photography in most parts of the airport is banned!
From what I remember, it’s ok to take snapshots of family or friends beyond the security checkpoints, and possibly only with a compact camera. I can only imagine the fuss if I had been discovered taking photos of the runway and service areas with my big chunky Canon 20D!
I know for a fact that photography in Heathrow is banned. It’s a good thing too. The flash might set off the dangerous liquids left by disgruntled and thirsty travellers before they go through...

G-BKSP on Inch Strand
Another shot from our few hours at Inch Strand in Co. Kerry last September. This is G-BKSP waiting on the beach to fly. Unlike the glider I posted earlier I saw this plane fly. Unfortunately conditions weren’t suitable for flying the gliders before we had to head home to Cork.

EI-128 on Inch Strand
Last September a large group of glider enthusiasts spent a weekend at Inch Strand in Co. Kerry. They were from two clubs, one in Dublin and one from further north I think. I took down their details but that scrap of paper is long lost at this stage.
Conditions weren’t the best on the day we passed the beach. It was a beautiful sunny day, but the wind wasn’t blowing in the right direction and the only aircraft I saw flying was a powered one. We were on our way home so couldn’t wait around unfortunately. I still got some nice shots. Hopefully I’ll find time to work on them over the next few weeks!

Blue skies contrail and clouds
A wall of the Beamish and Crawford Brewery blocks the sun in this shot taken on South Main Street, Cork.
Blue skies are great for sun worshippers but photographers don’t like them. It’s always better to have some cloud or interest in the sky. The fluffier and more solid the better, as long as some blue sky can be seen.

I want these motherfucking snakes off this motherfucking Luas. No? I want these motherfucking snakes off this motherfucking 46a? No? How about: I want these motherfucking snakes off this motherfucking Dart?
Samuel Jackson stars in Snakes on a Plane where he will utter the immortal line “I want these motherfucking snakes off this motherfucking plane”, which was not in the original movie but thanks to the online population of future fans who got an impersonator to say the line and in turn the studio decided to use the line and refilmed some scenes. And so the fans are writing the films now.
As an aside, since when is Brian O’Driscoll working in hollywood?
And now the point to this post. Via BreakingNews.ie comes news that the Dublin Society for the Prevention of...
